  Pond  \Pond\,  n.  [Probably  originally,  an  inclosed  body  of  water, 
  and  the  same  word  as  pound.  See  {Pound}  an  inclosure.] 
  A  body  of  water,  naturally  or  artificially  confined,  and 
  usually  of  less  extent  than  a  lake.  ``Through  pond  or  pool.''
