  A  preserve  or  confection  made  of  the  pulp  of  fruit,  as  the 
  quince,  pear,  apple,  orange,  etc.,  boiled  with  sugar,  and 
  brought  to  a  jamlike  consistence.

  mammosa})  of  the  West  Indies  and  Tropical  America.  It  has
