  gel['e]e  jelly,  frost,  fr  geler  to  freeze.  L.  gelare;  akin 
  to  gelu  frost.  See  {Gelid}.]

  translucent  substance  in  a  condition  between  liquid  and 
  solid;  a  stiffened  solution  of  gelatin,  gum,  or  the  like
