  The  language  of  ancient  Ethiopia;  the  language  of  the  ancient 
  Abyssinian  empire  (in  Ethiopia),  now  used  only  in  the 
  Abyssinian  church.  It  is  of  Semitic  origin,  and  is  also 
  called  {Geez}.
