  The  dried  leaf  of  a  South  American  shrub  ({Erythroxylon 
  Coca}).  In  med.,  called  Erythroxylon.

  odor,  and  are  chewed  (with  an  alkali)  by  natives  of 
  Peru  and  Bolivia  to  impart  vigor  in  prolonged  exertion,
