  1.  (Bot.)  A  small  or  secondary  bulb;  hence  now  almost 
  exclusively:  An  a["e]rial  bulb  or  deciduous  bud,  produced 
  in  the  leaf  axils,  as  in  the  tiger  lily,  or  relpacing  the
